Hola a Todos / Welcome Everybody
I am Mr. Vazquez, I will be the Spanish teacher here at St. Francis Xavier School. I am very happy and excited for meeting all of you. Let me tell you that I am from Veracruz, Mexico and I love teaching. I got a bachelor degree in education as well as majors in Philosophy and Theology, among other trainings that I have taken during all this time. I have worked as an elementary school teacher in Mexico, in the public and private school. I was a Missionary for a while and I did missionary work in Mexico, Kenya and Tanzania. Being in some africans countries have helped me to get a better version of myself and always trying to help and live my life according to Christ's teaching values. I learned English while I was in Kenya and it was a very difficult process and time for me, because I realized how hard is to learn a new language. However, I did it and I am so proud of myself for doing it. I also know a little bit of Swahili (national language in Kenya and Tanzania), but I have not practiced it in a long time but still remembering something. Honestly, being a missionary has changed my perspective of my life and become a better version of myself. When I come over to USA, I was so happy for having a new experience and the opportunity to get to know new people and places. I have been working in the Archdiocese of Chicago by coordinating the religious program education in some churches and as a Spanish Teacher at St. Monica Academy . Also, I was working in Noel, Missouri for the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau as a Pastoral Associate. I have been really happy doing that. However, being a Spanish Teacher has been a different experience, because I know how hard this process could be for some students. For this reason, I am making sure that every single student is learning Spanish and having some fun. During my Spanish classes, every student will be able to learn new vocabulary, play Spanish games to memorize vocabulary, watch short Spanish videos about Latinos culture, practice his/her speaking and writing skills, coloring and some other activities that I will be posting. Hopefully, by the end of the year, every single student will be able to increase his/her Spanish skills and start practicing in a Latino's context to get the enough confidence of himself/herself.
So, if you have any question, do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks a lot in advance and may our Lord Jesus Christ continue blessing you all.
Sincerely
Mr. Vazquez
